5th Feb Social - Community Engagement

We're pleased to be able to promote our monthly socials for 2017, starting on Sunday 5th February, 14:30 - 16:30 at the Tomato Dolce & Salato Cafe on The Level in Brighton.

The Sussex Cohousing development team will be having our regular bi-monthly meeting before this social and one item on our agenda is a sociocratic process (called picture-forming) around the topic of Community Engagement. This process helps us benefit form the wisdom of the group as it allows us to collect considerations and ideas from everyone in a pleasantly structured way. We'd like to repeat this process at the social in the afternoon, and hope that by making the group involved in the process bigger, our wisdom becomes....bigger(?) as a result!

Community engagement is an essential element of cohousing. Engagement with the community outside of the cohousing community is also really important! It is this second type of community engagement that we want to explore, gather considerations and develop ideas around at this social. We hope to get clearer on how to offer something back to the wider local community, how to build relations with them, and how to be accepted as a development into their community.

We hope you can join us for what should be an interesting and fruitful exercise, as well as allowing plenty of time for meeting and chatting with the Sussex Cohousing development team and others interested in this way of living.
